The Lebanese duo of Yasmin and Zeid Hamdan lead an ambitious electro-acoustic tendency in the Orient from the Country of the Cedar. Sensuous singer Yasmin distills classic tales of love and frustration with a grainy voice that is underscored by Zeid’s minimalist electronic samplings. Yasmin’s stunning looks contrast with a melancholic current that makes Soap Kills all the more original and seductive. After seven years of existence they were one of the highlights of the 2004 WOMEX in Germany.
